Adapting to
Changing Times

COVID-19

When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, PCC's General Manager, Jim Story and team rose to the challenge to keep the Club open and available to our members. If it had not been for our hardworking General Manager, PCC may have very well just shut down like so many clubs across the country.  Approximately half of 5,310 golf clubs surveyed were closed in early April with more than a quarter still closed in mid-May. During that time PCC remained open by instituting Jim Story’s pandemic safety measures and innovative golf and dining solutions.

Day by Day

Daily we are reviewing the latest information concerning COVID -19 and adjusting our operations so that Pensacola Country Club can continue to live out our vision, even during this global challenge. We are committed to providing members a safe haven where you can connect, play, and re-energize. In protecting that safe haven requires some hard leadership decisions, which are made in consultation with club committees and the Board of Directors.

Navigating Uncertain Times

What PCC is doing to ensure the safety of its members and club.

Touch Free

To ensure member and staff health and safety, PCC Golf  mandated single golf cart riders, reduced touch points by eliminating rakes, lifting flag poles, and by ensuring on course distancing.

Takeout

When Florida governor Ron Desantis mandated limited capacity dining , PCC had to act fast. Chef Bradley and his culinary team introduced take out and delivery options for our members. Upon returning to full capacity, PCC introduced outside dining to ensure distancing. Both take out and outside dining options are now member's favorites.

Commissary

PCC opened its first ever commissary for members to purchase supplies in need. The items on our commissary shelves, located in the tennis center, are supplied by CBI, our primary vendor. Therefore, many of the items are packaged in bulk quantity and sizes. We intend to replenish our supplies often.

Bulk Food Orders

PCC utilized our vendor network to offer membership with the option to order bulk meat and dinners when grocery shelves were scarce.

Tennis

Tennis continued to thrive this year with a slight interruption as we navigated some uncertain guidance from USTA. Ultimately Tennis had another successful year under the guidance of Chris McCullar. Chris continues to excel with men’s and women’s tennis as well as the strong youth program.

Sanitation

To ensure the safety of  members and staff, PCC implemented 5 new hand  sanitizing stations strategically located around the clubhouse, fitness and tennis facilities. The sanitizing stations are hands-free foot pumping station to reduce contamination.

In addition to our usual daily cleaning and special post-event disinfectant efforts, we have retained Service Master to visit every two weeks to disinfect the clubhouse in addition to the tennis and fitness center.

Cleaner Air

PCC has joined forces with Global Plasma Solutions (GPS) to ensure cleaner and safer indoor air. Essentially, GPS uses concentrated ion technology. + and - ions rob pathogens of life-sustainable hydrogen. Additionally, these ions attach to particles and gases, making them filtrable, thus neutralizing odors, and reducing harmful air contaminants. GPS ensures air quality for notable clients such as the Mayo Clinic, Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard, and The White House.

Air Quality

Our air flow system is designed with 17 individual units providing air to the multiple outlets within the clubhouse. Each individual unit provides fresh air in a clean and safe manner. The quality of the incoming air has also been improved by the addition of the GPS system (described above) applied to each unit.
